Shehu Sani, a former Senator from Kaduna Central, has called for a thorough investigation into the governance of Nasir El-Rufai, who served as the governor of Kaduna State for eight years. In a press conference, Sani highlighted numerous issues, including financial misconduct, abuse of power, and the severe hardship endured by the state's residents during El-Rufai's tenure. He emphasized the mismanagement of public funds, estimated to be in the hundreds of billions of naira, between 2015 and 2023. Additionally, Sani questioned El-Rufai's democratic credentials, citing the arrest and detention of journalists, activists, clerics, and community leaders. He also urged the security agencies to investigate the disappearance of political activist Abubakar Idris, known as Dadiyata, who has been missing since 2019. The senator's remarks come in the wake of El-Rufai's recent criticism of the current administration, which Sani deemed contradictory given El-Rufai's previous support for President Bola Tinubu. Furthermore, Sani praised Governor Uba Sani for improvements in security and called for continued support for peace initiatives. He expressed his support for Tinubu and Sani in the 2027 elections, emphasizing the importance of choosing leaders based on competence, integrity, and commitment to national unity.
