Fantasy Football Defense (DST) Week 14 Rankings and Streamers - NBC Sports
Here’s the shocking truth about DST rankings: Despite the unpredictability, we’ve nailed six of the top 10 defenses for three straight weeks, proving that strategy can outperform randomness. But here's where it gets controversial... While some picks aligned with the consensus, like the Seahawks, Chargers, Patriots, and Dolphins against the Saints, others sparked debate. For instance, I stood by the Bucs despite their recent struggles, and they rewarded us with a top-10 performance. And this is the part most people miss: even the Rams and Texans, despite their recent success, faltered in favorable matchups, while the Panthers, Bengals, and Bills unexpectedly dominated. This highlights the inherent randomness in DST scoring, but we won’t let it derail our process.
Below, you’ll find not just rankings but also the reasoning behind them. Tier One features elite weekly plays, Tier Two includes strong options, and Tier Three comprises borderline top-10 defenses. Tier Four targets deep-league players, while Tier Five lists defenses to avoid. I’ll track our Top-10 accuracy weekly to showcase the BOD (Best Overall Defense) rankings’ effectiveness.

BOD Formula and Philosophy
If you’ve followed my articles, you know I prioritize defenses that pressure quarterbacks and create turnovers. I rely on underlying metrics to evaluate defensive quality, not just matchups. While opponents factor in, I avoid overrating bad defenses due to favorable matchups. My formula combines pressure rate, turnover rate, expected points per play allowed, conversion rate allowed, and opponent scoring rate, weighted and adjusted for recent fantasy performance. Manual tweaks account for injuries or weather, but I minimize gut-based decisions.
DST WEEK 14 RANKINGS
Tier One DSTs
1. Los Angeles Rams at ARI (BOD RANKING: 3)
2. Seattle Seahawks at ATL (BOD RANKING: 1)
3. Denver Broncos at LV (BOD RANKING: 6)
4. Cleveland Browns vs TEN (BOD RANKING: 4)
The Rams, despite last week’s letdown, remain a top pick. Over the past two months, they’ve excelled in turnover rate, opponents’ scoring rate, EPA per play allowed, and pressure rate, averaging 10.3 fantasy points per game. Facing a Cardinals offense that allowed 9 fantasy points to the Bucs last week, and with Marvin Harrison Jr. potentially out, the Rams are a strong play.
The Seahawks have dominated recently, ranking 1st in pressure rate, opponents’ scoring rate, and EPA per play allowed, while averaging 12.3 fantasy points per game. They face a struggling Falcons team that lost to the Jets, making this a prime matchup.
The Broncos, bolstered by the return of Patrick Surtain II and Alex Singleton, face a Raiders team that allowed 14 fantasy points to Denver just three weeks ago. With Geno Smith under pressure, expect another solid performance.
The Browns, despite their offense’s inconsistency, face a weak Titans offense that has allowed 10 fantasy points per game to defenses recently. Even with Maliek Collins out, the Browns are a solid play.
Tier Two DSTs
5. Tampa Bay Bucs vs NO (BOD RANKING: 7)
6. Houston Texans at KC (BOD RANKING: 2)
7. Baltimore Ravens vs PIT (BOD RANKING: 8)
8. Philadelphia Eagles at LAC (BOD RANKING: 9)
The Bucs, a borderline top-10 defense, face a Saints offense allowing the fourth-most fantasy points to defenses (10.7 per game). With Alvin Kamara potentially out, this is a favorable spot.
The Texans, despite facing the Chiefs, are a must-start. They rank 3rd in pressure rate and opponents’ scoring rate, and the Chiefs’ offensive line is decimated by injuries. This could be a breakout game for the Texans’ pass rush.
The Ravens, trending up defensively, face a Steelers offense that has allowed 9.3 fantasy points per game to defenses. With Aaron Rodgers injured and key players out, the Ravens are a strong play.
The Eagles face a Chargers team with a weak offensive line, allowing 8.5 fantasy points per game to defenses. Even if Justin Herbert plays, the Eagles are a solid option.
Tier Three DSTs
9. Miami Dolphins at NYJ (BOD RANKING: 14)
10. Pittsburgh Steelers at BAL (BOD RANKING: 18)
11. Jacksonville Jaguars vs IND (BOD RANKING: 13)
12. Atlanta Falcons vs SEA (BOD RANKING: 17)
13. Kansas City Chiefs vs HOU (BOD RANKING: 22)
14. Los Angeles Chargers vs PHI (BOD RANKING: 11)
15. Indianapolis Colts at JAX (BOD RANKING: 19)
The Dolphins, consistent but not spectacular, face a Jets offense allowing 6.5 fantasy points per game to defenses. They could sneak into the top 10.
The Steelers face a struggling Ravens offense, but their own offensive limitations make this a risky play.
The Jaguars and Colts are deep-league options, with the Jaguars preferred due to their stronger defensive metrics.
The Falcons are unpredictable but face a Seahawks offense with weaknesses, making this a potential sleeper.
The Chiefs, despite their struggles, play at home against a Texans team allowing 7.0 fantasy points per game to defenses. They could surprise.
The Chargers, facing the Eagles, are a below-average play due to their offensive line issues and potential quarterback change.
Tier Four DSTs
16. Buffalo Bills vs CIN (BOD RANKING: 12)
17. Chicago Bears at GB (BOD RANKING: 10)
18. Green Bay Packers vs CHI (BOD RANKING: 15)
19. Las Vegas Raiders vs DEN (BOD RANKING: 16)
20. New Orleans Saints at TB (BOD RANKING: 20)
21. Tennessee Titans at CLE (BOD RANKING: 27)
22. Washington Commanders at MIN (BOD RANKING: 32)
The Bills, improved since their bye, face a healthy Bengals offense, making this a tough matchup.
The Bears and Packers are both risky plays due to their matchups.
The Commanders, the lowest-ranked defense, face a struggling Vikings offense, but this could be a get-right game for Minnesota.
The Saints, despite recent success, face a Bucs offense that’s improving, making them a risky play.
The Titans, facing the Browns, are a better option than the Commanders but still not ideal.
Tier Five DSTs
23. New York Jets vs MIA (BOD RANKING: 28)
24. Dallas Cowboys at DET (BOD RANKING: 23)
25. Minnesota Vikings vs WAS (BOD RANKING: 25)
26. Cincinnati Bengals at BUF (BOD RANKING: 29)
27. Detroit Lions vs DAL (BOD RANKING: 24)
28. Arizona Cardinals vs LAR (BOD RANKING: 21)
29. New England Patriots BYE (BOD RANKING: 5)
30. San Francisco 49ers BYE (BOD RANKING: 26)
31. Carolina Panthers BYE (BOD RANKING: 27)
32. New York Giants BYE (BOD RANKING: 31)
Controversial Take: Should we trust the Chiefs defense at home against the Texans? While their season-long performance is underwhelming, the Texans’ offensive line issues and home-field advantage make this a intriguing play. What do you think—bold move or risky gamble?
