The 2026 season began with a promising tenth-place finish in the Arlington SX LCQ. But it was at Daytona International Speedway that Evan's determination paid off. He transferred directly to the main event after a strong seventh-place finish in his heat race. Although a crash in the first turn hindered his progress, Evan's resilience shone through as he nursed his bike to the finish line, taking the checkered flag in 21st place.
"It was a massive relief and a huge step forward," Evan shared post-race. "Making it to the main event after all these years felt incredible. I'm happy with my performance, especially in the heat race. We've made some improvements to the bike, and I'm confident we'll continue to build on this momentum."
But here's where it gets controversial... Evan's father and former racer, Tim Ferry, revealed a personal health journey that has paralleled his son's racing career. Tim shared that Evan's POTS, a condition affecting blood flow and heart rate, was diagnosed as May-Thurner Syndrome, requiring two stents to improve blood flow to his heart and lungs. This diagnosis and subsequent treatment have been life-changing, allowing Evan to finally come off blood pressure medication and salt restrictions after nine long years.
"Making the main event on Saturday was a personal victory for our family," Tim wrote on Instagram. "Seeing Evan's relief, excitement, and feeling great after the heat race reminded me why we do this. Those little moments make it all worthwhile."
