China's Space Program: A New Internet Satellite Group Launched
In a significant milestone for China's space endeavors, a new batch of internet satellites was successfully launched from the Hainan commercial spacecraft launch site on the southern island province of Hainan on Tuesday evening.
The mission involved a Long March-8A rocket, which carried the 18th group of low-orbit internet satellites into space. This rocket, developed by the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, is a powerful liquid-propellant carrier rocket measuring an impressive 50.5 meters in length.
With a liftoff weight of approximately 371 tonnes and a thrust of around 480 tonnes, this rocket is capable of launching heavy payloads. It can transport up to 7 tonnes to a sun-synchronous orbit at an altitude of 700 km, making it ideal for constellation networking in low- and medium-Earth orbit.
This launch marks the 625th flight mission of the Long March carrier rocket series, showcasing China's ongoing commitment to space exploration and technological advancement. The successful deployment of these satellites will contribute to the country's efforts in providing global internet coverage and enhancing its space capabilities.
